Highlights of a 30-course meal, or most of it, from Bairin in Yokohoama

Motomachi Bairin, an amazing experience. 30 courses for 12,000 yen/person. Bairin, translates to "plum forest," in Yokohama, is a favorite of my friend Tomoko Hosaka.

The restaurant was a favorite of the late famed film director Akira Kurosawa. He gifted a hand-carved wood block of Bairin's name which is in their front entrance.

The lobster was still moving even as they served it and we ate its innards. Read David Nakamura's experience at Bairin on The Atlantic Monthly blog, and see his pics, which are different courses than ours. Jealous of the crab.
